Niles High School students in grades 11 and 12 are able to dual enroll in local colleges, you can find that information below:

MTA 
When considering participating in dual enrollment, it is important to consider:
  • does the student have the academic strengths, routines and ability to advocate for themselves
  • does the student have the maturity needed to handle themselves in a college classroom?
  • does the student meet a minimum recommended GPA of a 2.5 based on more rigorous coursework? and the qualifying test score as set by the State of Michigan?
Steps to DE:
  • Complete the application for the school of choice: 

  • Request a transcript be sent to the school of choice

    • Carrie Rinehart, A-K

    • Jenny Bierwagen, L-Z

  • Work with LMC or SMC to register for classes

    • This must be completed before summer break

  • Pick up the Dual Enrollment Contract from Mrs. Marciniak

  • Complete the Dual Enrollment contract with all necessary signatures and turn in to Mrs. Marciniak

  • Once admitted and registered, students must READ his or her EMAIL that is given by the community college.  They will give needed information and mandatory dates for dual enrollment orientation.  They do not use NHS student email.  Dual enrolled students are now BOTH NHS students and a student of the community college.  Dual enrolled students must be attentive to SMC/LMC communication as well.
